ABOUT US
Climate Collective Oxford’s goal is to set up and operate a climate hub, in central premises in the city, accessible to as many Oxford residents as possible. Our mission is to help build a thriving, resilient Oxford, both for now and long into the future. We aim to achieve this through bringing people together in the hub for information sharing; facilitating collaboration between local environmental and social justice organisations; running workshops and community events; hosting talks, and other relevant activities. We want to build a space where everyone can come together to care for ourselves, our communities and our planet, in the face of climate upheaval.
THRIVE Oxford:
A Community Climate Hub for a Day
Over 300 people came to THRIVE Oxford, where we showcased what a community climate hub in Oxford could do. The event brought together local community groups working in the climate and social justice movements and highlighted local initiatives around the themes of food, travel, energy, nature and reducing waste.
Popular sessions included a talk from former deputy county council leader, Pete Sudbury, who set out the challenges facing our county; a conversation between climate campaigners reflecting on their personal activism journeys; and the social philosopher, Roman Krznaric, talking about what it means to be a good ancestor. THRIVE Oxford was opened by Lord Mayor, Councillor Louise Upton who spoke in support of Climate Collective Oxford’s mission.
